Why StickFire

Big-shop tone.
Small-shop hands.

Every stick we ship has been turned, tempered and balanced by one of three people. No CNC mass-production, no overseas finishing line — just stubbornly slow craft from a workshop on Seward Street, three blocks from the lake.

We started in 2017 because Intranig Lieon, our founder, kept losing studio takes to wobbly off-the-shelf pairs. Eight years later, our sticks are in the bags of session players from Chicago to Austin.

Our Process

From Log to Lick

Five steps. Roughly three hours of human attention per pair. Zero shortcuts.

01

Source

Kiln-dried Appalachian hickory and Vermont rock maple, hand-selected for straight grain and density.

02

Turn

Each blank is turned on a 1953 South Bend lathe to spec, with a final hand-pass for the taper.

03

Temper

A controlled flame pass tightens the surface fibers — our signature step for grip and rebound.

04

Balance

Pairs are weight-matched within ±1 g and pitch-paired by ear before they ever leave the bench.

05

Finish

A hand-rubbed tung-oil finish that wears in instead of wearing out.

What Drummers Say

★★★★★

I've been through every major brand. The Lakeshore 5A is the first stick I've ever ordered twice without thinking.

The fire-tempered Ember 2Bs feel like they were made for my hands. Three months in, no chip, no warp.

Bought the Founder's 5B as a Christmas gift. The engraving and the box made my partner cry. Stick's great too.
